Next-gen barcodes that speak human

Digital Link at Transforming Print and Packaging into a Digital Gateway: Bringing packaging to life with AI

Transforming Print and Packaging into a Digital Gateway

On October 16, our team at Digital Link took part in the online session “Transforming Print and Packaging into a Digital Gateway”, where our CEO & Founder Paula Rivero and Business Developer Stefanie Idrobo, together with industry host Deborah Corn, explored the future of connected packaging — and introduced Cleo, our conversational AI for packaging.

During the session, Paula and Stefanie discussed how brands can evolve from static packaging to smart, dynamic and interactive experiences powered by Digital Link. They explained how QR codes are no longer simply access points to information, but fully conversational touchpoints that engage, guide and support consumers directly from the product.

From traditional print to #PrintSmart

The talk walked attendees through the foundations of intelligent QR-driven experiences, covering key differences between static and dynamic codes, and the advanced capabilities enabled by Digital Link, including:

  • Real-time content updates without reprinting
  • Batch- and expiry-level traceability
  • Product recall management and POS readability
  • Multi-language content for global engagement

With these capabilities, packaging evolves into a dynamic digital gateway — delivering relevance, transparency, and measurable engagement.

Meet Cleo: The AI that makes packaging speak

The highlight of the session was Cleo, our AI assistant designed specifically for print and packaging.

Cleo transforms packaging into a two-way conversational interface, allowing consumers to scan a QR code and ask questions about the product — from usage instructions and sustainability, to brand storytelling and inspiration.

Whether it’s a bottle recommending cocktails, a business card scheduling meetings, or a product answering questions, Cleo brings packaging to life in a completely new way.

“Let’s make print speak human.” — the idea that guided the live demo and showcased how packaging can become interactive, personal and memorable.

Why the future of packaging is conversational

The presentation closed with real examples and insights into what conversational packaging means for brands:

  • Data-driven, measurable engagement
  • Personalized consumer journeys
  • Sustainable packaging without reprints
  • A frictionless path from print to conversion

As Paula and Stefanie demonstrated — alongside Deborah Corn — connected packaging is not about simply adding a QR code. It is about creating meaningful and dynamic interactions that bridge the physical and digital worlds.

Thank you for joining us

Thank you to everyone who attended and took part in the conversation. We are excited to continue leading the evolution of smart packaging — making every product not just printed, but intelligent, interactive and human-centered.
