Driving product safety innovation: Digital Link at INPAA baby safety week 2025

Digital Link at INPAA Baby Safety Week

A safer world for families

At Digital Link, we believe that technology should empower consumers with access to clear, transparent, and verifiable product information. In the baby product industry, where safety is a top priority, this mission is more critical than ever. That is why we were honored to participate in INPAA Baby Safety Week 2025, hosted at GS1 Australia’s offices in Melbourne.

This event brought together industry leaders, regulators, and innovators to discuss and showcase the latest advancements in product safety, compliance, and consumer trust. Digital Link played a key role in demonstrating how GS1 Digital Links and Next Gen Barcodes are transforming the way safety information is accessed and utilized by parents and caregivers worldwide.

A commitment to safety

During the event, our CEO, Paula Rivero, opened her presentation with a clear and powerful statement:

“A better world is possible. A safer world is necessary.”

Her message underscored a fundamental truth: every decision matters when it comes to protecting children. At Digital Link, we work to provide families with the information they need to make informed, confident choices about the products they use daily.

This commitment led us to participate in INPAA Baby Safety Week, where technology providers, retailers, and manufacturers collaborated to enhance product safety. One of the key highlights was the demonstration of how GS1 Digital Links enable real-time access to safety data, improving transparency across the supply chain.

A commitment to safety

Collaboration for a safer future

One of the most exciting developments at the event was our partnership with Joie International and Nuna Baby. Together, we are launching a groundbreaking pilot project that is setting new standards for safety compliance and regulatory innovation.

This initiative is driven by a shared commitment to:

  • Global safety standards – Ensuring that all products meet the highest levels of safety certification.
  • Consumer trust – Providing parents with access to instant, verifiable product information.
  • Technological innovation – Using digital tools to create a more transparent and connected safety ecosystem.

By working together, Digital Link, Joie International, and Nuna Baby are leading the way towards a future where product safety is seamlessly integrated into everyday consumer interactions.

Collaboration for a safer future

Introducing the safety manual of the future

One of the highlights of this collaboration is the introduction of a revolutionary way to deliver safety information to consumers.

“Every great product comes with an instruction manual. But what if that manual wasn’t just a booklet inside the box? What if it lived inside the product itself—ready to provide instant, up-to-date safety guidance in any language, anytime, anywhere?”

That’s exactly what Joie and Digital Link are launching: a pilot project that turns every product into its own source of truth. This initiative goes beyond adding a QR code—it’s about fundamentally changing how safety information is accessed and utilized:

✅ One scan, all safety instructions, no searching.
✅ Multilingual access for global consumers.
✅ GS1 Verified data, ensuring trust and compliance.

This new approach eliminates outdated paper manuals and replaces them with a fully digital, always-accessible safety system, allowing real-time updates and instant access to critical product information.

The first Joie products to implement this standard include:

This marks the first step toward full-scale integration across Joie’s product line, paving the way for the next generation of smart, connected safety solutions.

Recognizing excellence in baby product safety

INPAA Baby Safety Week also served as a platform to celebrate innovation and excellence in the industry. Several outstanding products were recognized for their contributions to safety and compliance, including:

The Role of GS1 Australia and Digital Link in Compliance & Regulation

In addition to showcasing new technologies, the event provided valuable insights into Australia’s evolving regulatory landscape. With the recent introduction of mandatory baby product safety regulations in October 2024, companies are under increasing pressure to ensure compliance and consumer protection.

Our partnership with GS1 Australia reinforces the importance of standardized safety measures that benefit both businesses and consumers. By leveraging GS1 2D barcodes, companies can now:

  • Improve traceability across the supply chain.
  • Provide real-time safety updates to consumers.
  • Enhance regulatory compliance without adding complexity to product labeling.

As we look to the future, Digital Link remains committed to working alongside regulators and industry leaders to ensure that product safety measures are both effective and adaptable to technological advancements.
